Rinnekoti Foundation-Rehabilitation Home for Children
Rehabilitation Home for Children at Rinnekoti Foundation is a rehabilitation and service center for children’s rare disorders. We provide service for children and adolescent with rare disorders, as well as their families and the professionals working with them. Our clients come from all over Finland.
In the area of our services there are customers from approximately 70 rare diagnosis groups. Children’s rare diagnoses vary in symptoms as well as in levels of complexity. There are somatic disorders such as chronic bowel diseases or congenital malformations. Commonly in such disorders are, despite the rarity, that the development of the child is otherwise normal. In rare syndromes however there are usually problems in the overall development of the child, learning difficulties and mental disabilities. Many rare syndromes and disorders are hereditary, and some are also part of the so called Finnish Disease Heritage.
The Rehabilitation Home for Children organizes supportive family courses, habilitation courses for adolescents, temporary care giving, peer support services, and provides habilitation and service guidance to all our client groups. For professionals we organize educational courses and seminars, consultation and work guidance services. Our regular staff, who include among others, a childneurologist, a medical geneticist, a family therapist, a psychologist, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a social worker, a rehabilitation coordinator, a training coordinator and nurses have years of experience in working with rare disorders.
